Summerside’s downtown gets eight new businesses
Summerside’s downtown gets eight new businessesRon Casey, executive director of Downtown Summerside Inc. said the following businesses have set up shop in the city’s traditional retail sector: The Regent, Federal Express and P.E.I. Print Management, DJ Short Multimedia Studio, On Three Communication Design Inc., Puppy Love Dog Grooming, Abegweit Books, Island Gift Baskets and Mick’s Antiques within the last two months. Late November, early December is not traditionally a time when you see new businesses open up and Casey termed the activity as an “early Christmas present” for downtown Summerside. “This is good for this time of year,” Casey said. “It’s a big plus because we lost some big business downtown this year with Aliant going and Susan Snow had a great business going there (Moving Designz). It’s always up and down but it’s always nice to see a Christmas story where it gives us a little bit of good stuff.” Casey says any time a downtown core can get that many businesses opening up in a short period of time, it’s a positive sign.
