Innovation Centre for Inter-operability Standards
Arnold Croken, General Manager of Summerside Regional Development Corporation expressed on behalf of the Board of Directors and management, excitement and appreciation for the commitment by the Provincial Government to assume the lead role in establishing a facility that will house simulation software/hardware testing facilities for vendor solutions in a clinical healthcare environment. This testing facility will address the issue around standards and will provide the North American Health Services Industry a vehicle to test innovative software options earlier in the development and testing phases. SRDC is very excited with this commitment which supports their vision for economic and job growth in the healthcare services IT sector for the city. Mr. Croken compared this announcement to that made in 1990 to rebuild Summerside following the closure of CFB Summerside and the success that plan generated. He believes this is the right sector to fill vacancies and generate wealth and growth in our community. The Holman’s re-development project as planned, will support the amount of space required for the envisioned organization. The telecommunications and infrastructure plans for the facility will meet the requirements of this project. SRDC is committed to working with the Province to ensure the maximum benefits are achieved for the healthcare system and economic growth for the City of Summerside and the Province of PEI. This is yet another great announcement for this community which complements last week’s announcement of 125+ jobs with the relocation of the Department of Education. Mr. Croken expressed appreciation for the tremendous level of support shown by government.
